Father's Day 2013

Hannah had a Art's Camp all week and she performed with a Flag.  This Color Guard experience was new for her but she really enjoyed it. They had a fun production on Father's Day.  We came back and had a BBQ.  We made Mike a Nutty Mix filled with chocolate covered almonds and assorted nuts.  We found a funny picture and put it on the container. Hannah also made a canister decorated  with duct tape to take to work.  He is a special Man! Thankful for his Dedication and Love for his family. It was a fun day!

Happy Memorial Day!

Lord, bring about in this nation an attitude of great respect and honor for all who are serving in the military and for those who have served in the past. I thank You for the many men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our nation. Please protect all of the men and women of our armed forces.  Give them courage, faith, and clarity of mind to do their job. Put a hedge of protection around them. Let no weapon formed against them prosper.  Give them strength to endure.  Amen!

County Fair & Gymkhana

Hannah won 1st Place in the County Fair!  She was so excited.  She entered her two piggies Mille and Izzy Mae in the cavy area. She received a blue ribbon and trophy for Showmanship and her piggies received Best of Breed and Best Variety. The last day they had a costume contest.  She dressed her furry friends up as a bumble bee and flower.  She had a lot of fun
She also experienced two Gymkhana's this year.  This is a competition with barrel racing, goat tying, & weaving poles. Sprocket the horse she has generously been allowed to ride is a wonderful spirited horse.  Hannah has had to learn to control his excited nature.  When he gets in the ring he wants to run immediately.  It can be very scary.  She relaxes her hands to take charge or he will bolt to the barrels.  I love to watch the kids handle these beautiful large animals.  It is exciting!  Hannah really just likes to ride.  I think she is glad to have had this experience.  It has tested her confidence and has got her out of her comfort zone.  She won some 1st place ribbons and second place ribbons on Sprocket.  But,  I don't think she really cares about that.  She just loves to ride and care for Sprocket.  He is a sweet horse! He is all business when he gets into the ring.
Whooooa! Sprocket!

Happy Easter!

Taste and See that God is Good! Thank Him for the gift of Peace!
When Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection, It was Peace that He communicated first of all.  This was there deepest need.  This is my families deepest need! Trust God and it will keep us close to him.

Jesus said, "May Peace be with You!" John 20:19

Hannah's Presentation on Cavies

This Friday it was Hannah's turn to present at her 4-H Meeting about her Cavies.
She talked about Pregnant Cavies and their babies.  She brought a snack and Millie and Izzy Mae came to the meeting.  The more we travel with these furry friends the more they are getting used to being handled and it is preparing them for showing.  She had butterflies in her stomache, but she did an excellent job.

4 - H

Hannah is going to show her Guinea Pigs at the Maricopa County Fair in April.  She is excited to have this experience.  This weekend she went to a Round Robin Show to prepare for the Fair.
One thing she was a little unsure about was that she had to get the piggies tagged in the ear.
This is part of the requirement. She worried about it all afternoon. It went quickly and reminded me of getting your ears pierced.  Millie did not make a sound but, Izzy May squealed and made a little fuss. She also will have to leave her piggies at the fair grounds for a whole week.
The program is teaching many great character traits.  Respect, Responsibility,Public Speaking, and organization.

HAIL-alujah!!!

Yesterday a Storm passed through and left us with some Hail!  It was fun! Chilly enough for Hannah to wear her winter coat.  Wheee!

Kelly "The Lunch Lady"

I am now officially a lunch lady at a school near by my house. I get to walk to work!
Don't I look lovely in my hair net!
God has blessed me with a job that has taught me to have joy at whatever I do!  I love the kids.  They are funny and full of life.  I have the privilege of feeding these youngsters Monday thru Friday! I take it very seriously!  These kids are our future!  I pray for them and hope that they are fed not only by nourishment but by my example.. To serve them with a smile! Thankfully they treat me with  kind words and are not judging of my appearance Ha Ha!  One little girl asked if I was wearing a wig. I laughed and said no I am wearing a hair net!  She was so cute!

Mike lights up my World!

Mike brought home a pizza pie from Papa Murphy's take and bake for a Valentine Surprise!  Hannah and I made Chocolate Yum Yum cookies for a treat too.  The best part was that Mike lighted my world!!!  He surprised me with a lamp.  I had mentioned that I needed a lamp in our bedroom for reading.  He makes me feel special when he hears me say something and remembers it and then takes care of the need.  That is Love!

Polar Bears

We had fun learning about Polar Bears.
Wrote an Acrostic poem about SNOW.

Played Melt an Ice cube game.  Depending on the number the  dice lands on  you have different elements to try to melt the ice.  Holding the cube in your hands for 10 seconds, dropping it, shaking salt on it, floating it in water and of course, dropping it down your shirt.  When the girls landed on that one it was a team effort and both dropped the ice down their shirts.  Lots of giggling and screaming from the cold.

Penguins

Did you Know?

There are 17 different kinds of penguins.
In prehistoric times some penguins were 6 feet tall.
Penguins build highways.
Penguins are great swimmers.
Penguins only know how to eat in the water.

We made a Hand stitched penguins with felt & edible penguins with olives.
(edible penguins from gourmet mom to go)

We made a Blubber Glove and experimented in ice water. Put our hand in the cold icy water with bare hand and then put the blubber glove on in the water and it was warm.
The Blubber is Crisco oil.

Penguins love to sing!  We do too.  We learned when you sing praises it is like praying twice to God!

Turf ParadiseTour

This morning we had a tour planned with 4-H to visit Turf Paradise horse race track minutes from our home.  I have always wanted to go but have never made it in.  It was the perfect day for it.  We started the tour watching the horses practicing on the track.  Our guide was a retired jockey named Floyd.  He was a nice man full of information. We took a tram to the stable area.  If you could describe Heaven, Hannah was in heaven.  We walked around the stalls with the race horses petting, talking and observing. They are gorgeous and so fit.  It was fun to read the names of the horses scribbled on the wall with a permanent marker. The track houses 2200 horses.  The season runs from September to May and then the horse handlers staff etc. disperse to places all over the United States.  If I could I would love to work in the stables.  I love the hard work ethic!  I love the smells of the stables!  I love being around the horses!  It is the perfect therapy... Once a week Hannah & I are privileged to go to our friends the Johnson's house and muck stalls, feed, and clean/ scrub the water barrels of her six horses.  It is hard work but it is the best feeling in the world to care for these beautiful animals and to get dirt under our fingernails.
